The dairy set came with several of the farm play sets and could be ordered separately like this one. The cow is 5.5″ x 3″ and in excellent condition with the original box. The pail is 1″ x .75″. These cows had a felt like coat that is often well worn. Many will have slight rub marks at the highpoints. The cow could “drink” liquid by being squeezed and drawing the liquid up through the mouth. The milk pail would then be placed under the cow’s utter and when pressed on the pail the liquid would be “milked” from the utter. This dairy set was ordered and mailed in December 1950. The set could be purchased for $1.00, postage included. The second photo is a typical mail order form.
I HAVE ONE OF THESE THAT WAS GIVEN MY MY GRANDMA. IT’S STILL IN THE ORIGINAL BOX AND HAS THE BUCKET. ARE THEY WORTH ANY MONEY THESE DAYS?
